Description
1940’s Wool, USA, SAFIR A/S army coat, Grey, size men’s XS, women’s Small.
The tailoring on this coat is excellent. Designed for the brutal winters that the army were predicted to encounter. Thick wool, fully lined, double breasted. At first I thought it was just a man’s coat, but when it was small on my medium sized mannequin, I popped it her my size 10 ladies one, and it looks great on both.
Now, I must inform you that it needs the hem to be either turned up, I have shown this in the photos, or the hem needs to be realigned. Unfortunately, the lovely family that I have excepted it from, to sell on consignment, washed the coat, instead of Dry cleaning it, so the outer wool has shrunk and is causing the hem to be rumpled. So, it is a project. For this reason and have heavily reduced the price, to compensate. I mended the lining in a few places and re-sewed new buttons on the belt at the back because 2 of the brass ones were missing on the front, so I swapped them over.
In a flat lay, the men’s measurements are- Chest 38″, waist 33″, hips 42″ and the length is 40″ with the hem turned up to hide the rumple, but around 2.5 ” to let down.
Women’s are bust 98cm, waist 86cm, hips 114cm.
